It’s healthier and taste better, free from preservatives and additives, too. Homemade food is always the best. Pumpkin Seeds Crisps (Tuiles) is one crisp that I made every now and then for my family. It’s very delicious and addictive. Well, at least it’s quite a comfort to know that it’s a healthy crisp. Sometimes I use sunflower seeds or almond flakes.

Sweet potato again! I love sweet potatoes very much and my world can’t go on without sweet potatoes…..of course the other one being condensed milk. Sweet potatoes make great desserts. I was really delighted to discover that it is possible to make a sweet potato gnocchi dessert. The gnocchi was chewy and really delicious in palm sugar syrup, drizzled over with coconut cream. My daughter liked it very much.

My whole family loves ginger. Ginger is very warming and it’s especially welcoming in this freezing weather when temperature dropped to -7 degrees Celsius. This may not be cold to some people but it’s too cold for my Malaysian skin! I’ve been cooking soup everyday with added ginger and wine to keep warm. Apart from soup, Hot Ginger Sauce Chicken is another family favourite dish that’s very gingery and delicious. It is perfect for this cold weather and goes great with rice.

It’s my birthday today…yeah!! I’m  a year older, hopefully a year wiser. It’s such a thrill to receive birthday wishes from all over the world. A friend back home sent me a triple greeting….Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day and my Birthday. He called it ‘triple happiness’. I fully agree with him. I think this has been a special and awesome season for me….great time with my friends, lots of special attention from my hubby and children and of course lots of special gifts, one of them being my new Apple computer!
