Malaysian Prawn Soup Noodles

Malaysian prawn noodles

Malaysian prawn noodles

Malaysia boasts itself of endless wonderful one-dish meal. I think it’s impossible to try all in a life time because more are created each day. That’s all because of the beauty of a multi racial nation. Prawn soup noodles, locally called ‘Hokkien Mee‘, is just one of the very popular one dish meals. It’s spicy but very delicious.

I was first introduced to this most delicious dish when I was in Penang, also known as ‘Pearl of the Orient’. I fell in love with it immediately. So this dish is always known as Penang Prawn Noodles to me. This is one of my top family favourite, more so for me as I really love prawns. This is one dish that my family would ask for every now and then.

Sambal Prawns With Edamame

Sambal prawns and edamame

Sambal prawns and edamame

Sambal prawns and edamame came as a surprise to me. They actually combine well. Both the prawns and edamame are tender and delicious and with the hot and spicy sambal, it tastes really good. I love prawns, or shrimps, so this has now become another favourite of mine.

I only learned about edamame when I came to Scotland. A friend introduced me to it. I fell in love with it the first time I tried it. Best of all, my family likes it too. Edamame is the young soya beans and are green in colour. They are very nutritious and delicious even boiled plain. Sometimes I do that and eat as a snack when watching TV. Sometimes I made a vegetarian appetiser as in Best Vegetarian Appetizer

Spicy Prawn Fritters Stir Fry

Hot prawn fritters stir fry

Hot prawn fritters stir fry

Prawns, or shrimps, is my top favourite for savoury dishes. I love it cooked in any way. This spicy prawn fritters stir fry was actually a dish that went wrong. It was not meant to be a fritter dish but really glad that it still turned out very delicious. It became a new dish all on it own!

I actually wanted this dish to be dry and spicy but I made a mistake. I used frozen prawns which ended up with quite a lot of water when thawed. Without realising it, I added in all the rest of the Ingredients A. I ended up with prawns batter! I should have squeezed out the water from the prawns first. I will try this dish again next time. Maybe I will omit the egg too.

Prawns, or shrimps, are my top favourite, whether big or small. I cooked them very often in different ways. I have just discovered recently that Cajun food is very delicious. This is all because of Drick at http://www.dricksramblingcafe.blogspot.com. He is a real inspiration to me. I just love all the food on his blog, especially all the prawns dishes and all the other Cajun and Creole dishes. I felt so honoured when he made the Mango Brulee for me as I love mango very much, too. Thanks again very much, Drick!

Juicy Prawns Omelette

Prawns omelette

Prawns omelette

Prawns, or shrimps, is my top favourite. I love it big or small and any way it’s cooked. Most of the time I like to make it a little spicy but this prawns omelette is one that is not spicy all all. If you like it spicy, you can add some chopped chilies to the egg mixture before frying, or some spicy chili oil. This omelette is soft, juicy and delicious.

Tamarind (Assam) Tomato Tiger Prawns

Tamarind tomato tiger prawns

Tamarind tomato tiger prawns

Prawns, or shrimps, are my top favourite, especially tiger prawns. My family loves prawns, much to my delight, because it’s fun when we eat together. I always cook tiger prawns with the shells still intake because that is where the fun is….peeling the shells and sucking the head. I used to peel the prawns for my children when they were small but they have picked up the skill and enjoy peeling themselves. This type of dish is only to be enjoyed at home as eating this in restaurants, or parties, is just too messy.

Teriyaki Salmon Prawns Patties

Salmon prawns patties

Salmon prawns patties

I love eating patties of all types. Most of the time I made turkey mince patties. My family likes patties very much and I love cooking them for 2 main reasons. Firstly, they are delicious and secondly, I can hide in vegetables.

A few days ago I decided to make salmon and prawns patties, first time trying it. They were very delicious. Before the dinner was ready, the patties were almost all gone! My children couldn’t wait. They said the patties were really good. Of course I was very glad that they didn’t realise how much onions and coriander I put in.
