This must be at least 10 years since I last made steamed dumplings, commonly called ‘pau’ or ‘pao’ in Oriental countries. I remembered many years ago when I made them, my dad said they were so good that I should sell them. Well, they never ended up for sale but in our stomachs…haha. I even made for my students who came for Math tuition….how lucky they were! Well, I really loved all my students and I enjoyed teaching them. Many are already working and successful in society. I must say it’s such an honour to have taught them.

I grew up in a place where fresh seafood is a common sight. Fishing boats were often seen in and out of the harbour. When we were young, my mom taught us how to tell if a fish is very fresh. First thing, check the gills. It has to be bright red, not a dull colour. Next, when you poke the flesh, it feels tough and not soft. My mom was very good in making fish balls, fish cakes and fish floss. Nothing is better than homemade. They taste great with rice porridge or congee.

Thai Food In Richmond, London

Beef green curry

My family loves Thai food but not when it is too spicy. On a recent trip to Richmond, we decided to go for Thai food for a change. It is quite a small shop. As usual, when we go to a new place to eat, we will only order a few dishes to try out first, usually the popular ones.

We ordered an omelet appetizer, a vegetable, tom yam soup and a beef green curry, our usual favourites. All the dishes look nice as shown in the pictures here but not all of them tasted excellent.

To me, it’s important to go to the right place with the right chef cooking the food. There is not much choice in UK. It can be quite a frustrating and disappointing experience to go to any one thinking you can get authentic Malaysian food. So far, I’m quite pleased with Malaysian Hall at London which offers rather authentic Malaysian food at a very reasonable price. I had written 3 articles previously.

More Korean Food In London

Chicken Bulgogi Deobab

One of my favourite food is Korean food. The 3 best Korean dishes that I would never miss each time I go to the Korean restaurant in London, Corean Chili, are Tokbokki, Bulgogi and Bibimbap Dolsot which I shared in my earlier post, Korean Food In London. The look and the taste are equally fabulous.

On top of the 3 Korean dishes, I found another 2 great ones. They are Chicken Bulgogi Deobab and Pork Bulgogi Deobab. They are really awesome. They look almost the same but taste different. Both the dishes are quite spicy but they are so good if you like spicy food. After eating them, I still think of them and would want to go back for more. That’s what I call great food.
