Fried Garlic Tortillas For Soup

Fried garlic tortilla

Fried garlic tortilla

If you like garlic like me, you will like this fried tortilla. It’s very garlicky. I added a lot of chopped garlic to fry the tortillas. The smell of fried garlic was just awesome. It reminds me of a good garlic bread. This fried garlic tortilla strips goes very well with my Healthy Sweet Potato Carrot Soup. The chopped coriander gave it an added fragrance. I had these with the soup for dinner after a good round of badminton. I was tired and something light and delicious like this just made me full, satisfied and happy.

Healthy Sweet Potato Carrot Soup

Sweet potato carrot soup

Sweet potato carrot soup

My family loves thick vegetable soup. It is very easy to cook and very healthy. As I love sweet potatoes, one of my top favourite vegetable soups is sweet potato and carrot soup. It has a lovely natural sweetness of its own and goes great with some crusty bread. This time when I cooked this soup, I made fried garlic tortilla pieces to go with it. It is very delicious. I’ll share that in another post.

The hand stick blender that I bought recently is not only very easy for making smoothies but also very easy for making this type of thick soup. If you like smoothies, click How To Make A Delicious Low Fat Healthy Smoothie.

Moist Orange Cake

Moist orange cake

Moist orange cake

It’s time for desserts to sweeten up life. Like lemon cakes, moist orange cakes are one of my top favourite cakes. I love the tangy and citrusy flavour and its moist texture. I remember eating lots of orange cake during Chinese New Year when I was young. My aunty always made them, only during Chinese New Year. There was no electrical gadgets then and my poor uncle was always the victim. Being the only man in the house and considered strong, he had to do all the beating and creaming by hand! I’m so thankful I live in a more modern age now otherwise we will have very few cakes to eat….only those melt-and-mix types.

How To Make A Delicious Low Fat Healthy Smoothie

Low fat, healthy banana mango smoothie

Low fat, healthy banana mango smoothie

My daughter likes smoothies and often makes them. Most of the time she makes raspberry and mango smoothie. It’s sweet, thick and very cold because she uses ice cream and frozen fruits to make it. She uses the liquidiser to make. I like smoothies but to me it is still just second best to my carrot apple juice. But to my great delight, I have discovered a quicker and more delicious smoothie recently, one that is very delicious, low fat and healthy. My family likes it very much. Now I like smoothies just as much as carrot apple juice!

Scotland Thistle Flower Shortbread

The Thistle, Scotland's national flower

The Thistle, Scotland

It’s wonderful to know the national flower of a country. In Malaysia it is the beautiful, red Hibiscus. Here in Scotland, the national flower is the beautiful, prickly purple Thistle flower. The Thistles in the picture above have not bloomed yet. When they bloom, they have beautiful purple red crowns on top. The Thistle is actually a weed that grows wildly all over the lowlands and the highlands of Scotland. It is prickly all over as you can see. But it’s a very beautiful flower. I think it represents toughness and the ability to protect itself.

How To Make Egg Noodles At Home

Homemade egg noodles

Homemade egg noodles

I’m not sure how many people don’t like noodles but all those that I know like it very much. It’s like pasta in the West. In Asia, you will find loads and loads of noodles everywhere. They come in different sizes, different types and different colours. If you live there, you probably can’t be bothered to make yourselves. But I did when I was back home in Malaysia. I made my own egg noodles, also called ‘you mian‘ in Malaysia. The main reason is of course homemade egg noodles are clean and without any preservatives added. On top of that you can choose to use high quality ingredients like organic flour, organic or free range eggs, olive oil, sea salt and filtered water.
