Signing of marriage certificate

I’m back! Back from my DAUGHTER’S WEDDING!! Now you know why I needed to take a break from blogging. My hair will turn grey if I don’t……*big grin*. It was such a fun wedding to remember, very different from the normal weddings that I attended. My daughter and her hubby had been planning it since last year. There was so much thoughts put into it….into the most minute detail. She kept me updated along the way but I just couIdn’t visualise it. I was overwhelmingly surprised on the wedding day! It was elaborate, celebrative and fun. Such a joy to see everyone enjoying it very much.

Eldest daughter's wedding

Eldest daughter's wedding

3 years ago my heart exploded with utter joy as I watched my eldest daughter walked down the aisle with the man she loves. They are still madly in love with each other which warms my heart all the time. It was a very lovely church wedding in Hong Kong. Our pastors from Malaysia flew over to conduct the wedding then. It was beautiful and fun too. They are a fun-loving couple, witty and funny. I didn’t blog about it then because my eldest daughter is a more private person and I respect her privacy. But I’m sure she doesn’t mind me sharing a picture here. I think it helps to make my writing and my joy complete….*big smiles*.

You can imagine the extreme joy that I felt once again as I saw my youngest daughter walked down the aisle with the man she loves. This time the wedding was not in the church but in a very beautiful resort in Wales, The Celtic Manor, with a 5 star hotel. It’s such a beautiful place that I would love to go again just for a relaxing and fun holiday. There are lots of activities that you can get involved and the food is simply fantastic. It’s definitely a perfect choice for wedding. The wedding room was huge and very beautiful and was a complimentary from the hotel.

Me and my eldest daughter (the maid of honour)

Me and my eldest daughter (the maid of honour)

My second and youngest daughter was the maid of honour for her sister’s wedding then. For her wedding, my eldest daughter was the maid of honour. It was all just too beautiful and memorable to describe about the sisters playing the same role in each other’s wedding. It was wonderful to catch up with my eldest daughter. We had a good few days together. We had so little time together since she got married.  My daughters are my best friends and I miss them! However I’m very thankful that they are not that far away.

The wedding march on red carpet

The wedding march on red carpet

I love the wedding march. The little page boys and bridesmaids were SO cute and adorable. I must say they did a great job walking in an orderly manner ahead of the bride. The youngest was only 2 years old. In fact I was wondering whether they will walk halfway and run away. I would if I were them….haha. That’s why I was never a bridesmaid when I was that age….haha. But no, they were really good and deserve to be applauded…..*big smiles*.

The youngest bridesmaid

The youngest bridesmaid

Just thought I must share a close up picture of the youngest bridesmaid. Isn’t she beautiful and adorable? She looks like a little angel! While the dinner was going on, she fell asleep in her daddy’s arms……awwwww. It wasn’t too long before she was up and running about again….*big smiles*.

Religious ceremony - exchange of vows

Religious ceremony - exchange of vows

Our pastor friend and his wife flew in from Singapore to marry the bride and bridegroom. That makes it even more special. My girl had a very good relationship with them ever since she was about 8 or 9 years old. I still remember every Sunday when we reached the church, she would run to their office to chat with them and play skipping rope in their office. She even has one of their drawers to keep her stuff! Despite their very tight schedule, they still made time to come. What a blessing!

Fun ride in a golf buggy

Fun ride in a golf buggy

My second daughter and her husband must be one of the most fun-loving couple I have ever seen. This picture here tells it all…..haha. It’s almost impossible not to smile or laugh when they are around. And just look at her dirty foot!….haha. When she told me weeks before the wedding that she would kick off her wedding shoes, I looked at her in horror and said with a firm, ‘No!’ She knew I meant business and agreed not to. But then after all the pomp and ceremony was over, she kicked them off, telling me they hurt her feet. Really? By the way, that was not the wedding car. It was a golf buggy that the photographer used when chasing them around in their wedding car taking pictures……..haha. The photographer confessed that he had the most fun time…..*big smiles*.

Beautiful Bentley as wedding car

Beautiful Bentley as wedding car

This is the beautiful wedding car….Bentley. It is a 1920s car, very special indeed. There were 2 for the wedding and we are privileged to sit in the other one, following the wedding car to the dinner venue which is within the resort.

The waiting crowd for the arrival of the bride

The waiting crowd for the arrival of the bride

The wedding was held outdoor. It was a hot day. UK was and still is going through heat waves. The sun was too glaring for many people and so the sunglasses. But it’s a nice day for pictures and I prefer the heat than the cold. It’s very much like Malaysian weather except that it’s dry and not humid.

With Joyce from Malaysia

With Joyce from Malaysia

Guess who was one of the guests? It was Joyce, my young friend, who travelled all the way from Malaysia with her mother to Aberdeen for a few days and then to Wales to attend the wedding. She is such a joyful person to be with, always happy and funny. To top it all, she loves all the food that I cooked or baked…..*big grin*. She came here 2 years ago, alone then. We had a great time. She and my eldest daughter are very close friends. When they are together, my roof would come down….haha. You can check out my blog post about her trip here 2 years ago at 8 Beautiful Characteristics Of A Young House Guest.

Band of musicians

Band of musicians

There was the religious ceremony and also the civil ceremony (top picture above) all on the same day. They were solemn but yet filled with chuckles and laughters every now and then. These were followed by light refreshment and finger food, entertained by a lovely music band and an awesome magician who wowed everyone with his magic tricks. The live band also played the wedding march music. I love music and was most impressed by them. Later, coaches ferried all the guests to the reception venue for dinner. The food was amazing and the setting was beautiful.

The wedding dinner was a 3 course dinner of starter, main meal and desserts as seen here below. Guests have a choice to choose for the main meal, either chicken or beef. I chose beef. The food was all spotted on……simply delicious…..mmmmmm.

Beautiful and delicious desserts

Beautiful and delicious desserts

I love the presentation of the dessert. The tart was so beautiful and delicious served together with the lime sorbet in a dark chocolate case. What a marvellous combination!

Ready to cut the wedding cake

Ready to cut the wedding cake

After dinner, everyone looked forward to the cutting of the wedding cake. I love the wedding cake. It was so well designed and beautiful with the Welsh culture and the iced models of my son-in-law’s 2 favourite cats added to give it such a touch of character. I was most shocked when the bride and bridegroom were handed a LONG knife by the toastmaster to cut the wedding cake! I think that is Welsh culture as my son-in-law is a mix of Welsh and Irish. However, there is also a beautiful short wedding cake knife and server.

Bride's father giving the first speech

Bride's father giving the first speech

When everyone is full and happy, the speeches began. My hubby was the first to share, followed by my eldest daughter (the maid of honour), then the bridegroom and lastly the best man who is the bridegroom’s brother.
The speeches brought much laughter and tears as each one listened intently. As I listened to my eldest daughter’s speech, I wonder how I pulled through all those years when they were growing up, plotting and planning all forms of mischiefs behind my back. They called themselves partners in crime! Should I cry or should I laugh? Of course I can only laugh now because it’s over….haha. Who say girls are not naughty!….*big grin*

Big bouquets of flowers

Big bouquets of flowers

There was presentation of beautiful bouquets of flowers after the speeches. My eldest daughter and I were very honoured to receive one each from the bridegroom. Really didn’t expect that. Of course his mom got one too. That’s really very thoughtful of them and such a lovely way to show their love and appreciation.

The candy cart

The candy cart

When all the speeches were over, everyone dispersed to go to the outside hall where there was a candy cart where you can help yourself freely to the candies and jellies or have all the fun at the photo booth. The dinner hall was rearranged to convert it into a dance hall.

Fun at the photo booth

Fun at the photo booth

I really like the photo booth. It was so fun. You can take 4 pictures one after another in quick succession. You have to be very quick to change props and pose. Then you will get 2 copies immediately after that. One is for you to keep and one is for the wedding book where you write something to the bride and bridegroom next to the picture. That’s really so fun, isn’t it? I’m sure when they come back from their honeymoon, they will have lots of fun looking through the whole album and having a good laugh together.

The first dance of the night

The first dance of the night

Time for dance to begin. The bride and bridegroom performed the first dance. Awwww….that was SO beautiful and enchanting! Reminds me of Cinderella…..*big smiles*. It was awesome to watch as they glided around the starry lit room, locked in each others embrace every now and then for a quick kiss. Soon many others joined in the dance, even the kids. A special song for the kids…The Gangnam Dance! That was such a blast. So wonderful to see the kids did that dance. So sorry for a blurry picture here taken by a friend. Still waiting for LOTS of pictures to come through, taken by the professional photographer.

Wedding ducks

Wedding ducks

I was most fascinated by a very cute wedding gift from one of my daughter’s friends….a pair of handmade wedding ducks. They look SO cute on the shelf in her wedding room at the hotel. I heard there are 12 baby ducks waiting to be given at the right time. 12???…..haha. I’m dumb founded……*big grin*

Champagne glasses

Champagne glasses

Oh, I love how my daughter decorated up the champagne glasses…cute and beautiful.

I went back to the hotel room about 11.30pm. Just too tired to stay longer. Many of the guests stayed until about 1.30am!

Wedding souvenir for guests

Wedding souvenir for guests

Oh, I almost forgot. Everyone has a nice wedding souvenir to bring back. It’s a beautiful wooden Welsh love spoon with some candies in a lovely case with a card tied to it, explaining the significance of the love spoon.

Just what an amazing wedding filled with an abundance of fun and laughters, and tears of joy too! It was well enjoyed by all the guests, from young to old. Now, being a blogger, how I wish I could run around with my camera taking lots and lots of pictures…..*big grin*. But no, I have to exercise great restraint. All the guests would gasp in total disbelief if I, the bride’s mother, had done that….haha

After breakfast the next day, we headed off to London to stay 2 nights there with our friends and also to meet up with another close family friend. While we were there, we went to see the change of guards at Buckingham Palace. While we went our way, the bride and bridegroom jetted of to St Lucia, a famous hideaway in the Caribbeans. The latest I heard from them is they were fully enjoying themselves. SO happy for them….*big smiles*. Looking much forward to seeing them soon.

Oh well, I’ve come to the end of my post. This must be the most fun post that I have written because it’s about my 2 wonderful daughters, who are my closest friends, and a fun wedding. Well, now our nest is really empty! What now? I’ll share with you in another post. So make sure you are back to find out.

As I am typing away, I want to share with you the excitement of the birth of the royal baby yesterday to Prince William and Kate. The royal baby is third in line to the throne. A big CONGRATS to them!

Til then, see you in my next post.

Mary, what can I say except I felt I was at the wedding with tears in my eyes because of the beauty of it all. Your words added more beauty to the already beautiful wedding. Your daughters are so beautiful but then I am not surprise as their mother is equally beautiful inside out. A privilege to be your friend Mary.
