Berries and orange drink

Oh, I need to celebrate! Wonderful news to share here. I’m just so glad that my cast was removed yesterday…..yay…*BIG smiles*. The surgeon was pleased with my recovery and told me I don’t need to see him again. How happy to hear that! I was also taken off my medication even though I actually need to take another week. I think the physiotherapist looked surprised. Just in case you are wondering what I am talking about here, I had a complete rupture of my Achilles tendon while playing badminton about 5 weeks ago. I had to go for surgery to get it fixed.

Well, now I have to learn how to walk with my foot down, elevated at the sole with a thick sponge. I need crutches to help me with that. It’s actually quite torturing trying to walk because the repaired tendon feels extremely stiff. There are other stretches that I need to do everyday. When I see the physiotherapist again in 2 weeks time, I REALLY hope that my tendon would be flexible enough then so that I can be off my crutches and get to drive again.

I’m just really excited to share a very easy, refreshing and healthy drink which I made to contain my joy. You only need blueberries, raspberries and oranges with some sugar and pinch of salt. I finished all my strawberries otherwise I would add strawberries too. It was just SO good. This is a sure thirst quencher especially for those who are enjoying a hot summer. And best of all, you don’t need a juicer to make it, just an orange squeezer.

This is what I used for 1 serving:

Juice of 1 big orange
A small handful of raspberries (crush it with a spoon)
A small handful of blueberries
2t unrefined sugar
pinch of sea salt

Put all the above in a glass. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and salt. Enjoy.

You can of course go wild with your creativity using other fruits to mix with the orange juice.

I believe it’s all the juices, fruits and simple, healthy food that has helped my leg to heal quicker. I hope you are eating a healthy diet and living a healthy lifestyle. Let’s not wait until we are sick before we start. It may be too late.

Have fun cooking and baking and I’ll see you in my next post.

Definitely a great reason to celebrate, Mary! So happy to hear that you don’t need to see the surgeon anymore. Do take it slow and easy, don’t want you to injure it again before it completely heals.
Your drink looks really refreshing. Love all the fruits that you used in it. Raspberries are one of my faves. Cheers to a quick and painless recovery! :D
