White chocolate cake with white chocolate sauce

White chocolate cake with white chocolate sauce

I just can’t wait to share this beautiful white chocolate cake, a perfect dessert for any time. It’s so simple and easy to make yet very delicious. This is the first time I made a white chocolate cake. It was so good I made again the next day.

You see, I had 2 lovely friends coming over for lunch and one of them cannot take chocolate, the brown type. I know what you are going to say……..”awwwww”. I know, I will be so miserable if I cannot eat all types of chocolates. But wait, at least she can eat white chocolate. I just have to make a dessert with white chocolate then, even though it’s not real chocolate. Never mind, it’s still spelled ‘CHOCOLATE’! And with the white chocolate sauce, it’s just heavenly…….delicious…..mmmm.

Actually I made this cake, a fairly big one, the night before my appointed lunch with my friends. But the next morning I had to go out for a while, about an hour, to do something. When I came back, to my utmost horror, almost the whole cake was gone…only a narrow strip left!!! I just couldn’t believe my eyes. I sat a while, wondering who was the culprit(s). Well, forget it,  I quickly whipped up another one.

Really thankful that this lovely cake is so simple and easy to make…just melt and mix and then into the oven it goes. Then I make the white chocolate sauce. What a BIG rush! But what Big satisfaction….my friends liked it very much….*BIG SMILE*.

Here is my White Chocolate Cake With White Chocolate Sauce recipe:

Ingredients A
300g white chocolate
250g butter
1C milk
3/4C sugar

Butter mixture

Butter mixture

Put all Ingredients A in a pot and melt under low fire. Keep stirring. Turn off fire and let cool for a while.

Ingredients B
3 eggs
2t vanilla essence

Egg and butter mixture

Egg and butter mixture

Beat Ingredients B lightly. Add to the melted butter mixture. Mix well.

Ingredients C
1 & 3/4 C flour
1t baking powder

White chocolate cake batter

White chocolate cake batter

Sieve Ingredients C into the egg mixture above. Mix well. Pour into a baking-paper-lined tin and bake in a preheated oven of 160 degrees Celsius for about 45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. The time really depends on the depth of the tin that you use.

Baked white chocolate cake

This time I use a deeper one. The other way is the smell. Once the nice smell comes through, it’s almost done.

Ingredients D (chocolate sauce)
1/2C double cream
150g white chocolate

White chocolate sauce

White chocolate sauce

Put Ingredients D in a small pot and melt under low fire. Keep stirring. Turn off heat. Let it cool till warm and beat with a hand beater until thick. Don’t you like the look of that gooey chocolate sauce? Awwww…..it tastes SO good! It is even great with fruits like strawberries or other fruits. I had lots of them! Oh yes, would be very good for pancakes, too.

This sauce in the picture here looks runny like condensed milk but if you leave this sauce in the fridge it will thicken much further. You can use it as a spread.

Cut-out cake

Cut-out cake

To serve, drizzle over the chocolate cake. For a nicer presentation, I cut out the cake using ring cutters. Then pour the sauce over and decorate with a sliced strawberry. That strawberry decoration above (top picture) was done by my friend. I love it…beautiful! Looks like a fan.

So, now it’s your turn. Give a try, more so if you can’t eat real chocolate (brown type). I will be making this again soon. If you have friends dropping by, you can easily make this cake and wow them. It’s even delicious without the chocolate sauce. Have fun baking!

NOOOOOO! I hate google reader on my phone! I’ll never hear the end of it now! Argh! Well played, my dear :D

I didnt beat Joyce  on July 8th, 2011

Mary, what do you mean white chocolate is not real chocolate? In my mind it is the mother of all chocolates! Haha. You’re always so sweet and thoughtful. Always looking for other ways to please others.

Omg, I LOL-ed when I heard your cake had been eaten. I’m so sorry, but knowing who I thought was the culprit, it’s just too funny. Now I must ask her. I’m so glad you were able to make another one in time though. Food is never safe in your house huh? You need a sticker system. Put red stickies on food that they need to keep away from. Haha. Suddenly one word comes to my mind —> TOINK! Lol.

Your cake looks beautiful and super delicious! You’re killing me here, Mary! And you must post on FB sooner so I don’t have to keep losing. This is not very good for my reputation, you know. Lol.

Swathi  on July 8th, 2011

I wish to be your neighbor, as lover of white chocolate this is calling my name.

peggyclyde  on July 8th, 2011

What size of a pan did you use? It looks delicious. Thanks.

Angie's Recipes  on July 8th, 2011

My husband is a fan of white chocolate and he will definitely love this one, esp. the sauce.

Mary  on July 9th, 2011

@redkathy - Haha…looks like we have a lot of hungry loved ones around us! Or…our food is just too good :D I better learn from you…issue threats next time….haha

@Bo W - Yes, they do, including me. Can’t believe it is so moist and flavourful. I have to make again :D Give this a try if you love white chocolate. Hope you like it too.

@claire - Oh dear…what did you eat for lunch? You should come here. I will feed you well :D

@anncoo - I must try with butterscotch sauce one day. I think cakes just tastes way better with sauce poured over it…mmmm :D

@Beat Superman Twice - Yes, you did! You must be laughing very hard there….haha :D

@Von - It’s either my cake is very good or the culprit(s) is very hungry…haha. Maybe your friend can try this one. Yes, I love to cook and bake and feed my friends. I am lucky to have friends who love my food and my friends are lucky to have me…hehe :D

@penny aka jeroxie - Thanks very much, Penny! :D Now I know white chocolate makes good cakes….mmm

@Belinda @zomppa - Come….I will make more cakes for you! :D

@I didnt beat Joyce - Oh dear, you ‘kalah’ :( Ya, someone must be laughing the whole day. I can even hear her laughter 1000s of miles away….haha. Don’t worry, the day will come when you will win :D

To me, chocolate is brown. Didn’t know there’s white chocolate until I came here! Well, my friend told me that :D Haha…sticker system! I really should do that especially if I have guests coming over. I know food will disappear faster when comes August…haha. I will have lots of fun cooking and baking! :D

@Swathi - Yes, come and be my neighbour! We will always be cooking and baking to feed each other…how fun….haha :D Give this a try. Hope you like it.

@peggyclyde - I think it’s a 10″ x 10″ tin. I am usually not particular about tins. I normally use a low tin so that it bakes fast. But this time I use a deeper one because I want to cut it out in rings and it will only look nice if it is thicker. Have fun baking! :D

@somewhere in singapore - Yes, waiting :D

@Angie’s Recipes - I’m now surprised that there are actually a lot of white chocolate lovers! I have just become one :D

I wonder what’s in brown chocolate that she’s allergic to? I thought chocolate was chocolate, no matter the color. Guess I better do some Googling. :)
Anyway, this looks delish, Mary.

Hi Mary, this is what I call food for the Gods!
This cake of yours not only beautiful, titillatingly tempting, but looks sinfully delicious.
One spoon in the mouth sure to see 2 rainbows, or eating at night, see the moon come up half hour early.
The kind of cake makes one forget what year it is!

I love your presentation, those strawberries topping is certainly very creative and beautiful….like heart shapes.
Holy Smoke, if a bachelor and a lady invites me home for tea, Earl Grey of course, brings this cake out, her days are numbered!
My florists will retire early….
A woman like you with these creative talents must be put on a pedestal…

Fortunately I never met one like you early on in life while making many SYTs happy, or else my mom would have got her wish come true early, ha ha ha….being a grandmother.
Mary…you are outstanding!
Have fun and keep a song in your heart.

wow wow wow that looks very delicous. Now i am hungry T.T
i have book the receipe, i will try it out^^

Anna Johnston  on July 10th, 2011

Yummo, and great job keeping the white chocolate white. I guess that makes sense about the makeup of the different chocolates, however, I would have thought the white would have caused the issue being the more modified.
Totes okay with being your tester bunny, lol! :)

Lisa @ Sweet as Sugar Cookies  on July 10th, 2011
