My youngest daughter has been asking me to make a chocolate cheesecake for her. I have been putting it off. I was thinking……of all the cakes, why did she choose a chocolate cheesecake?? It’s so rich and fattening! Well, she has been very patient waiting for it, waiting for the right time to ask again. Last week she came up to me…and there she went again…..”Mom, can you PLEASE, PLEASE, make a cheesecake……a chocolate cheesecake? PLEASE make it for my coming birthday!” She pleaded so sweetly!!! How can I say “No” to her and how can I put off again? Of course I can’t. That’s the mother’s heart. My sweet answer, “Of course I will!” I earned a BIG hug and of course she will get her favourite cake for her birthday. My BIG smile because she likes my cake….yippee!

I had the privilege of having my teenage friend, YuE, over for a baking lesson recently. Her parents are very good friends to us. I knew them about 5 years ago when they moved from another town and came to church. Looking back, I am very proud to say that YuE has not only grown in height but she has also grown much in character. 5 years ago, I would look at her and wonder but today I am very proud of her. I quite like to eat fries, just for fun if I go to MacDonald, but I hardly eat potato wedges. Recently I received some Schwartz seasonings. I saw this packet of Southern Fries Wedges that looks very tempting on the packaging. With friends dropping by yesterday, I thought it’s a good time to try. There’s some risk to take. I know my friends all love my Malaysian food. So, what if they don’t like it? I console myself that it’s ok. They are not picky eaters and I just have to believe they will like it. My best friend’s daughter, Joyce, came and visit us recently. She is also a very good friend of my girls, best friend to my eldest daughter. It has been such a real joy and delight to have her with us for about 2 weeks, so much so, that when she left we really miss her. She promised to return next year, for a much longer holiday. We even videoed her making her promise…*big smiles*. She said we are very dangerous……haha. Actually we had so much fun together that we persuaded her to extend her holidays. She was just all too happy. Finally she managed to extend another 2 days to 12 days here altogether.
