Best Lamb Salad By Daughter
Finally my pestering earned me a fabulous dish…haha. When I was away for a few weeks back to Malaysia recently, my daughter, Sharon, has been having the time of her life taking over my kitchen. You should have heard how her sister complained of the mess she created……I can imagine that! But I’m just really thankful that my kitchen was still in one piece! I was just too eager to check out the countertop because she cut her Homemade Spinach Noodles right on the countertop instead of on the chopping board!!!! Why I knew? I saw it on her blog!
Sharon started her blog just before I left for Malaysia and so, imagine my real surprise when I saw all the culinary creations and beautiful pictures, especially from someone who hardly bothers to cook! The pictures look better than mine (sadly…haha) and the food looks really mouth-watering. I think she has more patience than me when comes to food preparation. I’m sure you can tell.
Well, I’ve been reminding her that I want to eat all the dishes that she cooked on her blog, except the Swiss Roll Bombe which she tried to learn from Jess at j3sskitch3n. Take a look and you will know why….haha.
Finally, at last my pestering worked. She made her best lamb salad for me and everyone at home. It was really delicious…mmmm. It was adapted from her The Great Beef Salad. EVER which she learned from LeQuan at luvtoeat. I just love the simplicity of the dish and the lovely creation. I’m sure this dish will be equally delicious with chicken or duck, or maybe even fish.
For the recipe , please visit Sharon’s blog. Be entertained by her mischief, cheekiness and humour as she giggled talking about her dear parents in her post on A Tale Of Train Travels. I am shaking my head!! I just have to Keep Smiling Keep Laughing! One day I must write on how to survive as a parent as kids grow up…haha.
Hope everyone’s having a great day!
Quote of the day……

Omg! Using lamb was such a great idea! I don’t eat lamb, but my hubby does and I know he would love Sharon’s version. Beautifully presented too. Gotta love food blogging, right guys? My mom keeps raving about how much I’ve learned ever since food blogging. It’s so true how inspirational food blogging can be though. I’m so glad Sharon adapted this salad and made it for you to try Mary! And so sweet of you for the mention, thank you muchly. And thank you Sharon for making this for your mom.
Mary, I second the idea of writing on how to survive as a parent as kids grow up. I know I’d learn a lot from a wonderful mom like you. I know you were joking, but I’m serious. That would be a great post. Hmm…this gives me some idea ![]()

@anncoo - Yes, it must be good when Sharon made it at least 3 times
I’m a lucky mom…hehe
@claire - Sharon is younger than your son but too pampered and still my little girl
Whah…now I think you need to help your son to find a wife that can really cook well for him and also for you
Hope you don’t put on weight…haha. Maybe, one that can take you along for exercise, too!
@lequan - I must thank you very much for inspiring my girl to cook!
She is so proud of the dishes that she had tried, especially your beef salad which she has made several times. I’m the lucky mom…hehe. I sure agree that blogging helps us cook better. We learn more and we are more excited to try.
Oh now, you can’t be serious about my suggestion on writing a post about how to survive as a parent as kids grow up. I was seriously joking….haha. If I write, I think many people will think of parenthood many times before having children…haha
Well, the good news is that we all survive
@somewhere in singapore - Oh wow……hard to believe that! Guess you don;t like the lamb smell. Maybe you can try with chicken. I would love to try that next
@j3ss kitch3n - Have to agree with you. I was totally impressed by the taste, simplicity and presentation. Sharon did a good job!
Yes, I can’t wait to try her successful swiss roll bombe!
@Priya - Thanks very much, Priya! ![]()

Just like my daughter. She would wait till nobody’s at home and then she’ll cook… No daddy around to nag and no mummy who will eventually take over the cooking completely. LOL!! Looks real good - like my daughter’s cooking also - very nice. Well, let them do on their own and they’ll learn eventually…hopefully.
penny aka jeroxie on January 5th, 2011
uh ho! Your daughter is taking over your kitchen! ![]()
Mary on January 5th, 2011
@suituapui - I guess our kids know our strengths and our weaknesses. I think they are good in pretending until we find out…haha. I think we better keep a distance from the kitchen in order to enjoy more good food from them
Wonderful to know your daughter cooks well. I hope she is not blamed if you ever put on weight…haha
@penny aka jeroxie - Ya, that sounds terrible huh…haha ![]()

Mary, I want to thank you for the information you wrote in my post about my girl. In fact after reading it, i diluted the bragg vinegar and sapu on her affected parts.. when u mentioned diary products, i was thinking oh dear, she drinks a glass of milk each morning..guess i have to buy this soy milk instead.. yes, give her more fresh fruits to eat and vege too..i guess she lacks that.. thanks again!

This looks delightful, your daughter sure spent a lot of time creating it! How old is she? You are so blessed that she wants to cook and help out! How did your counter do? Any cut marks? But how can you complain when she makes food like this? How appropriate that I see you have this lamb, because today is epiphany!!
Mary on January 6th, 2011
@Christine@Christine’s Recipes - Yes, I’m so happy. I have always wondered when will my children start cooking without my help and supervision. Only to find out that it happens only when I am away and when she starts blogging…haha
@Lorraine @ Not Quite Nigella - Thanks very much, Lorraine!
@claire - You are most welcome. I really hope it helps. Keep trying. Natural healing takes take to build up the immune system, detoxify and heal. Try the juices. It’s loaded with nutrients.
