Blueberry Smoothie - Healthy Breakfast In A Glass

I’m excited to share the good news. My dad is finally discharged from hospital. That’s a huge relief! I’m sure my mom is the happiest. She asked for him everyday. Suffering from Alzheimer’s, I think he is the only one she remembers.

As I look at my parents and a lot of ageing people, I think it’s very sad to see that many elderly folks are very frail and sick. Too many are confined to wheelchair or bed. The picture look very bleak and depressing. However there are also those who are still very healthy, alert and strong even through old age. They are the ones who inspire me. So, what is the difference? I don’t know. I would really like to know. It must be healthy food and healthy lifestyle. Are we eating healthy and living an active, healthy lifestyle?

Taking Care Of The Elderly - Alzheimer’s Disease Part 3 (Food)

Healthy green vegetables

Healthy green vegetables

This is the final post about taking care of the elderly and about Alzheimer’s Disease. This post is about serving healthy, nutritious and easy-to-digest food for the elderly. They are not spicy, too. These were the food that I prepared for my parents while I was at my sister’s place. Mom and dad really liked them. These were some of the food that mom often cooked for us when we were still at home and mom was still healthy with good memory.  These food are light and low in fat, yet very nutritious. They are cooked longer so that it’s easy to digest.

Taking Care Of The Elderly - Alzheimer’s Disease Part 2

Mom very happy to help

Mom enjoys helping

This is another endearing post about my parents. This post is about taking mom and dad to another town to my sister’s place. It’s where we would really want them to go as it’s for the best of their welfare. It’s all about a test of my patience and skill how to influence them to come along with me.

Alzheimer’s Disease - A Cruel Disease

Alzheimer’s Disease is undeniably a very cruel disease. I have been sharing about my personal experience with my mom who is suffering from this debilitating disease and it’s getting worse. But I realised that we can help Alzheimer’s patients to live a better quality of life which in turn helps those around them to be less stressed up. As most of us know, it’s not easy to take care of the elderly, especially those who are weak and sick, worse if they suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease. They need a lot of tender loving care and sometimes our patience runs out and we become weary. But there’s hope, not that we can cure Alzheimer’s Disease, but we can help ourselves by helping those who suffer from it. It is achievable if we don’t give up.

Me and mom working hand in hand

Me and mom working hand in hand

This is one of the few most endearing posts that I’m writing all because it’s about my parents who love me most dearly and whom I love and miss very, very much. Being so far away from home is always a pain especially when they are not feeling well. Being able to spend time with them for 2 solid weeks recently was a most wonderful experience that I will deeply cherish forever. It’s always wonderful to be with them.

Taking Care Of The Elderly - Simple And Easy Natural Cure

Mom and dad

Being back from Malaysia is never easy. The jet lag is really making me very miserable this time. It’s still very difficult to stay awake. I feel tired, sleepy and hungry all the time. I am sleeping like about 14 hours almost everyday since I came back, waking up every now and then in between to eat! This is the first time I travelled so far all alone and on a cold season. I count it as a great achievement…..happy! It was wonderful to be back in Aberdeen with my family but greeted by 4 degrees Celcius on landing is no fun. That makes me want to sleep all the more! Really hope I will get over with this whole misery soon. Still trying to smile!

This is another scheduled post while I am away. Thanks very much for visiting and also your lovely comment. Happy reading and cooking. Hope you have a wonderful day everyday.

Cheese is not something that I use very often in cooking and baking. It’s mainly because I did not grow up on dairy food. Besides, dairy food like cheese is very expensive back home in Malaysia. So imagine the shock when I came here to Scotland and find big shelves of milk , cheese, butter and cream in all sizes in the supermarkets. It just blew my mind! I have tried quite a number of them but not all yet. Still learning!
