First of all thanks very much for visiting my blog and for all the lovely comments in my previous post, Soba Noodles In Chicken Soup. I’m away at the moment and there’s no internet access! The mobile broadband that I bought was not compatible with my Mac….so sad. Managed to borrow a laptop to use to type this paragraph. There’s no mouse and the letters somehow jump all over the place….arrrgggh! Taking me ages just to type this. My sincere apology for not being able to visit your blog. Will catch up when I get back.
This dish here is a scheduled post. Happy reading! Hope everyone is having a great day everyday!
Butter Cereal Prawns is very popular in Malaysia…a favourite dish to order at restaurants. But at home this dish is made very easy with the packet spices. I received this packet mix when I met up with a wonderful blogger friend, Cheah from No-Frills, in London recently. You can read more about our meet-up at Blogging And Friends - 1st Blogger Meet-up.
I love tiger prawns….big and juicy. In fact I love all prawns and shrimps ….. my favourite! I cooked 9 big tiger prawns with this packet mix for 2 persons. Of course the cook deserves an extra piece…hehe.
Cooking this dish is very simple and easy. Here is my Butter Cereal Tiger Prawns recipe:
Ingredients
9 big tiger prawns
1/2 packet butter cereal prawn mix
butter
oil
coriander (best is curry leaves)
garlic
Clean the prawns. Snip off the long feelers. Clean the head. To learn more how to clean the head, LeQuan at luvtoeat had a great post about it with pictures and also a mouth-watering prawn dish. I love LeQuan’s blog…very down to earth stories and lovely Vietnamese recipes. It makes me smile and drool!
Heat up some oil in a frying pan and fry the prawns first until cooked. Dish it up. It’s important not to over cook them or they will become tough. Prawns cook very fast. When they turn red and curled up, they are cooked. That’s what my mom taught me.
Heat up some butter in the same frying pan (no need to wash), add the garlic and fry until fragrant.
Add the chopped coriander (I didn’t have any curry leaves), prawns and packet mix and mix well. Dish up and serve hot. It’s really good on its own or with rice.
