Prawns In Creamy Cheese Sauce

When I am busy, I just want to have something very simple but yet very delicious. The best would be if it is one of my top favourites. Prawns, or shrimps, often came to my mind. A wonderful food blogger and friend, Drick, of http://dricksramblingcafe.blogspot.com has a lot of awesome prawn recipes that look very simple and easy to cook. They are totally different from my usual way of cooking prawns, which are very Asian style. I seldom use cream and cheese in my cooking but thought I should give a try.
This dish came out very delicious. My children liked it very much. They even mentioned it again the next day. I have to thank Drick very much for the Parsley Cream Sauce recipe. He is such a talented cook. Best of all it’s really simple, easy and quick. Drick used parsley but I used spring onions because I didn’t have parsley. I’m not good in using cheese so I just chose a familiar one, cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
500g ready cooked king prawns
2T butter
1 big onion (peeled and diced)
1C spring onions (washed and cut)
1/2 C white wine
1/3C double cream
1/2C grated cheddar cheese
1/2t sea salt
1/2t fresh ground black pepper
Heat up a frying pan or wok. Add the butter and diced onions. Fry until the onions are transparent and fragrant. Add the rest of the other ingredients.
Keep stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce looks thick.
Add the prawns. Let it come to a boil and heated through. Dish up and serve hot. It goes very well with noodles or pasta.
Do you use creamy cheese sauce? What is your favourite dish to cook with this sauce? Please share, add and comment in the comment box below.

Mary, I think all kids generally love this dish. Everytime we eat out in Malaysia, we will definitely order butter cheese prawns. It looks like your dish but they use curry leaves, evaporated milk and lots of chili padi to make it flalvourful and creamy!

The cheesy cream sauce seems easy to make. When I make this, I will pair them with pasta and enjoy it as a one-dish. I seldom make creamy pasta - but this might be the next one ![]()

@Angie’s Recipes - Thanks very much, Angie! Have fun cooking
@Quinn - That sounds very delicious. I must try that next time but I need to go and look for curry leaves first. Chili padi will be too hot for me so I think I will use the normal chilies. I’m sure I will enjoy it very much…mmmm
@somewhere in singapore - Great..we are sharing the same favourite!
@Priya - Thanks very much, Priya!
@tigerfish - Sometimes it’s good to have a chnage. Can be challenging especially if it’s from another culture. But I’m glad this dish works
@sushma mallya - Thanks very much, Sushma! ![]()

Creamy sauce + prawns + pasta = the perfect meal!
I love cheese sauces but rarely make them because of the calorie content. But when the craving is simply too much to bear, I like to use light cream, broth or wine, and then just a bit of Parmesan cheese to thicken it up. If I stir in the noodles right away and let it rest, the sauce usually thickens enough so that it seems even cheesier. Mmmm . . .
