Chewy Scallion Omelette Pancake Rolls
Chewy Scallion Omelette Pancake Rolls is another of my family’s favourite. It is also a very popular Chinese dish made using the Chewy Chinese Pancakes. Occasionally we take this for breakfast but most of the time it is part of our evening meal. It goes very well with the Turkey Mince Tomato Egg Soup ….perfect combination. We also love it with a mixture of balsamic vinegar and soya sauce with some sesame oil added as a dip. It is even great as a snack. It makes a great party food too.
These pancakes may sound quite similar to the Chewy Chinese Scallion Pancakes but the method of doing is different and eggs are used here. To make these delicious pancake rolls, you need to start off with the hot water dough as in making the chewy Chinese pancakes. Usually, we have leftover pancakes from making wraps and they would be just perfect for making these pancake rolls. The recipe is very simple.
Ingredients
eggs (lightly beaten)
scallion or spring onions (chopped finely)
some salt
oil
Mix the eggs, scallion and salt in a bowl. Heat up some oil in a frying pan. Pour in some of the egg mixture and place a piece of pancake on top. When the egg is cooked, turn over and roll up the pancake with the spatula. Dish it up on to a plate. Cut it into sections and serve hot with your favourite dipping sauce and a bowl of tomato egg soup. This makes for a simple meal and is one of my favourites.

My father is an expert in making chinese pancake! Nowadays, he seldom cook it! Too lazy to do so. I love especially the burnt smell! haha…. When I was little, my brothers & I used to fight for the dark & burnt one…. so delicious! haha… I am actually really exhausted right now. After busy for the past 2 weeks in making the new year goodies. More to go… I’m making ‘Hee Ban’ & ‘Fatt Kuih’ on this coming Friday for new year eve praying, at my in law’s place. After that I’m heading to the North to my parents’ place. It’s a long way drive!

It’s not batter but hot water dough to make this pancake first, then place it on top of the omelette. Hope you’ll give it a try.

haha we use to have this street food all mornings while I was in college ! it adds some crisps inside, or some sausages ![]()

Sarah, Maison Cupcake on February 14th, 2010
These sound brilliant! My husband has been asking whether he will still get pancakes on Tuesday since I already made so many for Morrison’s in January and I think this idea has given me the incentive to make some more. I love them.
Mary on February 14th, 2010
@Sarah, Maison Cupcake - Thank you very much. You sure have every good reason to make more pancakes this Tuesday for Pancake Day. This one is savoury so it’s a good change
Have fun making!
