It is still Christmas season in my family. And as the year comes to an end, we are very thankful for all that had happened throughout the year and look forward to a new year. This time I cooked and invited some of my friends; about 35 people altogether for Christmas and also Year End Celebration. We had an awesome time of food, games, singing, jokes and chatting. It was an unforgettable evening….true Happy Hours!
This is the dessert and the salad section. The Pineapple Tarts and the Almond Cookies were my most recent cookie recipes that I learned. My friends liked them very much and so were the mochi balls.
These are mainly Malaysian food except for the fish fingers and the Brussels sprouts. There were also Chicago Town pizzas which were still baking in the oven when I took this picture. The peanuts and sambal in the 2 bowls in front and also the cucumber were to go with coconut rice which is a very popular dish in Malaysia called Nasi Lemak. The sambal with tiny anchovies is very spicy but very delicious. The Brussels sprouts in the medium bowl at the back was an inspiration by Angie at Angie’s Recipes. I couldn’t have access to internet to check it out and all that I could remember was honey and mustard. I added fried bacon to it too. It turned out to be very delicious. That was my first attempt at Brussels sprouts and I’m so happy at my success.
Well, Asians love rice. I cooked 2 pots of coconut rice and a pot of plain rice and they were almost all finished. Juices and hot Chinese tea were served throughout the evening.
These are a few of my friends. They looked so happy and sweet. Look at my friend in front there. She’s trying to show me she could pick up a small item with her chopsticks….well done!
This pretty, little girl is so cute. She’s a very friendly and confident child. She enjoyed herself and joined in the fun, even cheering along! She definitely made her dad very proud.
It was really such a fun evening as everyone enjoyed themselves, including children and teenagers. Everyone was happy. Food always brings friends closer together. What Happy Hours we had!
Do you celebrate as the year comes to an end? What food would you like to have? Who would you celebrate with? Please share, add and comment in the comment box below.

I was the camera lady that’s why I’m always missing in the pictures. Yes, will try to include next time. Hope I remember. Hope you have a great time there.

Gosh, what a party! I’ll have parties like this once in awhile too! Sometimes, just scared of cooking and the cleaning up …=P hehe… overall I enjoyed it very much! Thanks for sharing the blessful moment with us. Cheers.

@Kristy - Sometimes I wish I have a magic button for the cleaning or those cute pots and pans and everything like in Beauty and the Beast that can do all the preparations, set up etc….LOL. But it is always a lot of fun despite a whole day of cooking. Thanks for visiting. Hope you have a very enjoyable holiday season.

I could see the mochi from afar. Everything looks good. You should have a photo too:D We usually spend New Year’s eve with the whole PE family. There’s lots of us in there. Before it was potluck but with the growing family, we cater. Lots of fireworks everywhere too.
