Delicious hot and sour tofu soup

Hot And Sour Tofu Soup is one of my husband’s favourite soups. This one is with wine added. This is a popular Chinese soup. His mum used to cook this soup during Chinese New and other festivals. He grew up having soup almost every meal while it was just the contrary for me. It was such a nightmare when I got married to him. Out of love, he unwillingly agreed to learn to substitute soup with water. Soup only comes as a treat. This is one soup that I have not cooked before so I decided to try the other evening. It came out very delicious. My husband liked it very much. We actually added more wine just before serving. Here’s my recipe to share:

Delicious deep fried wantan

Deep Fried Wantan is a very popular starter in any Chinese Restaurant. It is actually very cheap to make at home. It is simple, easy and quick. My secret to a lot of my delicious, quick recipes is minced meat. Most of the time I marinade 2kg of minced meat and then pack them into small packets and freeze them. I use them in making dumplings, wantan soup, fried wantan, fried noodles, noodle soup, tofu dishes or to fry with vegetables.

Successful Baking Lesson For Zero Cook Husband

Lovely brownies

Lovely brownies

Ever thought of teaching a zero cook to bake? Especially if he is your husband!!! Definitely not in my entire world! He would rather pay the driving instructor to give his wife more lessons. Smart man….hmmm.

Tofu…..a favourite among the Asians. Tofu is a very healthy food. It is high in protein and a common addition to a vegetarian meal. You can easily buy it from Oriental supermarkets. However if you know how to make it yourself, the quality is superior.

When we were young, my parents used to make a lot of soya milk, some was turned to make tofu and some was turned to make tofu puffs. The texture and taste was awesome, way superior than those bought from the market.

Women’s Happy Hours While Husbands Work

Awesome food by awesome ladies

Awesome food by awesome ladies

Some of the best times that I have when my husband goes to work are Women’s Happy Hours where we have lots of food and all the absurd, interesting topics to share and laugh. It’s also a time we put our cooking skills to the test. We joke, we laugh, we tease each other, we exchange information and news etc etc. It’s always so relaxing and fun. We have always been such a happy, noisy bunch of ladies. I’m sure when each return to her own home, she is a better, happier wife and mother. All our husbands have to be happy and thankful when their wives go for such women’s happy hours.

Delicious fried okra with eggs

Okra Fried With Eggs is another of my mom’s favourite dish. It is a very delicious vegetarian dish. We grew up eating a lot of okra cooked in different ways. My parents planted a lot of okra and we reared a lot of chickens which produced eggs everyday so this dish is a common dish on the table. My mom used to tell us that okra is good for us. In Malaysia, okra is commonly called ”ladies’ fingers”.
