Time for something new and delicious. I seldom cook pork but I thought Brandy, Ginger Pork would be lovely. I love to add wine into my food and since my family loves ginger, I thought this is a good try. This is more of a Chinese dish. I must say it came out really flavourful and delicious. We like ginger so I used a lot of ginger in this dish. It gives it such a kick to the dish…..fabulous! The brandy added extra flavour to it. It goes great with plain rice. I steamed broccoli to go with it. Everyone enjoyed it very much. Here’s my recipe to share.

Sweet Potatoes, also called Kumara, is one of my favourite, healthy indulgences. It has always been a very popular poor man’s food, as far as I know. I think eating this lovely vegetable keeps me humble and sweeter each day. I remember we grew up eating lots of them. We ate them boiled or cooked with rice. We were just happy that our stomaches were full. Besides that, potato leaves taste very delicious when fried with just garlic and a sprinkle of salt.

Lately I heard of another few people, my friend’s friends, who are diagnosed with CANCER. As I sat and tried to recall my many friends who had suffered from various cancer, there are 24 of them! Sadly, 20 of them eventually died a very painful death not too long after diagnosis despite all the latest cancer treatments. That’s really heart-breaking. Only 4 still survive. Out of these 4, I know of 2 who are on a very strict diet that incorporates a lot of juices, home grown vegetables and fruits and no meat into their diet. On top of that they live a healthy lifestyle. One of them had third stage colon cancer and is now at least 10 years since diagnosis. The other one suffered from aggressive lymphatic cancer that has already spread throughout her whole body but looks very healthy now….already coming 7 years after diagnosis.

Making hand-pulled noodles or ramen has been my latest challenge. What a thrill that I finally succeeded to get it right! My family has been enjoying eating my hand-pulled noodles since my success in making them. There are so many ways to cook it. I made the soup type the other day, topped with a big piece of char siu chicken (click here for a super easy way to make char siu chicken). That was so delicious! It is really simple to cook it if you have the hand-pulled noodles and minced meat. Remember, always have a supply of ready marinated minced meat (click here on how to marinate minced meat).
