Delicious brandy ginger pork

Delicious brandy ginger pork

Time for something new and delicious. I seldom cook pork but I thought Brandy, Ginger Pork would be lovely. I love to add wine into my food and since my family loves ginger, I thought this is a good try. This is more of a Chinese dish. I must say it came out really flavourful and delicious. We like ginger so I used a lot of ginger in this dish. It gives it such a kick to the dish…..fabulous! The brandy added extra flavour to it. It goes great with plain rice. I steamed broccoli to go with it. Everyone enjoyed it very much. Here’s my recipe to share.

Ingredients A
500g pork (slice into strips)
3T brandy
1T hot chili sauce
1T sugar
1T sesame oil
2T oyster sauce
1T corn flour

Marinade the pork

Ingredients B
1 knob of ginger

Fried ginger

Slice the ginger into very thin strips. Heat up some oil in a frying pan. Add the ginger and fry until they are golden in colour. Dish up the ginger, leaving the oil in the pan.

Fry the pork

Fry the pork

Add the pork above into the frying pan and fry. Keep stirring so that they don’t get burnt. Dish it up onto a plate when it’s cooked. Top it with the fried ginger strips and serve hot with rice. Enjoy it….utterly delicious. You can eat the ginger strips too. They taste awesome together with the pork.

That looks good. I love ginger too and brandy just adds more layer of flavor. The best pork dish I’ve ever had was my late-father’s braised pork leg. I want to share with you his recipe. It hasn’t been made in a long time. My brother is an expert on this one.

This is daddy’s signature dish.

@Divina - Thanks for sharing and adding the link. Mmmm….I love soya braised pork leg stew. Excellent with rice or with plain steamed dumpling (pao). I love black vinegar pork trotters too which is reputed to be very nutritious. Am going to cook one of these days. Hard to get the trotters here but saw it at a Chinese supermarket recently

What a coincidence! I just cooked this dish yesterday too. It’s one of my family’s fave. Mine’s a little different tho - minus the chilli but with lots of garlic & ginger :)

I love cooking with liquor! Wine lovers, check out this Vongole Recipe!

Mary, do u cook everyday? I’ve been receiving your daily posts on food. That’s a lot of work :) Keep up the lovely write-ups & keep your comments coming!

kristy  on October 14th, 2009

I’ll be joining in for dinner! Is that enough for all of us? he he…

Mary  on October 14th, 2009

@Blackswan - Yes, I cook everyday unless I’m on holiday. I think that’s my best for my family. Since I cook I might as well share, hopefully more people will cook at home and eat healthier food.

Agree that it’s a lot of work blogging, not so much of the cooking but the writing and pictures to take and downloading. But it can only get better…am faster these days. I wish I can type like my children…they don’t need to look. I’m still a 2 finger typist….but quite fast…hehe

Mary  on October 14th, 2009

@kristy - come…always lots of food here…eat all you want…haha. What else are there on your list?
