Delicious fried tofu with char siu chicken

Tofu…..a favourite among the Asians. Tofu is a very healthy food. It is high in protein and a common addition to a vegetarian meal. You can easily buy it from Oriental supermarkets. However if you know how to make it yourself, the quality is superior.

When we were young, my parents used to make a lot of soya milk, some was turned to make tofu and some was turned to make tofu puffs. The texture and taste was awesome, way superior than those bought from the market.

There are so many ways to cook tofu. My family loves tofu, both the firm and the silken tofu. The other evening, I cooked tofu with char siu chicken. It came out very delicious. I had left over char siu chicken from the earlier evening so to make this dish was very easy and quick. Click here on how to make the easiest char siu chicken, which is a Chinese roasted chicken.

Here’s how I cooked this tofu dish:

1 piece of char siu chicken (slice)
1/2 piece of firm tofu (cut and sprinkle with a little salt)
1T light soya sauce
1C of coriander (chopped)
1T chili sauce (optional)

Fry the tofu pieces

Fry the tofu pieces

Heat up some oil in a frying pan and pan fry the tofu slices until it is a little golden on all sides. Remove on to a plate. Add the chicken into the frying pan and fry until dry and fragrant. Add the tofu, coriander and soya sauce and stir through well. Dish it up onto a plate and serve hot. It goes great with plain rice.

Note: The char siu chicken and the tofu are already salty enough so do not add too much sauce.
