The journey to montain top experience requires focus, courage, determination and strength.

The journey to mountain-top experience requires focus, courage, determination and strength. It can be very rocky.

Last week, I wrote about My Blogging Journey (Part 1 - How I Got It Started). Now what? How do I proceed from there?

What to Write? How to Write?

After setting up everything for my blog, I was more confused. All the terms blew me off and I was quite nervous to put down anything on my blog. I only know that Content is King. So, I wrote and wrote and wrote but nothing was published. Just thinking that my blog will be live for the whole world to see just terrified me. What if I write something wrongly? What if people criticize me? What if people sue me? What if…what if…what if? Come to think of it now, I am amused at myself for being so naive. In fact no one knows and no one actually notices!!! It takes time for people to get to know it and take an interest in it. I learned : Do not go into the negative. Know what you want and be confident to do it.

Just Keep Writing Anyway

The days went by but there was nothing published. I just kept writing anyway knowing that content is king. I wrote and I wrote and I wrote. I must have written and drafted more than 100 articles but I didn’t know what to do. I just had to keep falling back onto my blogging course and emails from my course instructors and mentors, Yaro Starak and Gideon Shalwick. It helped me a lot as it gave me the confidence and helped me to stay focus. I really want to produce a lot of good contents on my blog. If there’s anything that I benefitted from all these writing is I improved in my writing skill, the speed of typing and the flow of my thoughts. Ideas just kept pouring in. Just keep doing what you love to do.

How You Started Is Important

I knew and wanted to start off well. I learned that I must start and everything will follow after that, as long as I have prepared it well. The most important would be my first blog post and my About page. I spent a lot of time on that, reading, editting and refining. Finally I was satisfied with it, just what I learned from the blogging course. But when am I going to publish them? I have prepared well and have written my first 2 blog posts to my satisfaction. Starting well is important.

Deadline Helps You To Reach Your Goal

I had my first piece of content ready and I knew I had to give myself a deadline. It has always helped me to act when I’m not sure. It helps to push me to reaching my goal. I made up my mind to publish it on 16th June 2009. When I got up on that morning, I just hit the button to publish and there it went live! I was so thrilled, so happy and so excited. I achieved the first big step to putting my first piece of content on my blog. Deadline helps you to reach your goal.

Content Is King

The next step, I want to write a lot of excellent, compelling contents to share on my blog which will connect and engage with my readers. I have been consistently reminded that Content Is King. I must keep writing good value contents. My focus is to keep writing eventhough other things are important too. I worked very hard on it.

I learned the different types and styles of articles and their effectiveness. I learned that I must never copy other people’s articles or other people’s style of writing. When I write in my own style, it makes my blog unique. That makes sense and gave me a lot of confidence to write more and in my own style. It’s great to know that I’m unique and special and so is my blog.

During the first 2 weeks of blogging, I wrote 3 articles each day. When I look back, I’m amazed at myself for doing that. That was phenomenal. But in July, I cut down to 2 posts a day to have some time to start a little social networking to promote my blog. In August, I cut down to one post a day to allow me more time to do more social networking and study my course to learn more. It was all so exciting. Content Is King.

Compliments And Encouragement Adds Fuel To Your Passion

The days passed and I was still working very hard on writing good articles after my first posts. I haven’t shared with anybody yet. There was too little on my blog to share. Then 1 week after I published my first posts, I received my first comment from someone I didn’t know, Jenny. She commented on my post Korean Food In London, ‘Pretty nice post. I just came by your site and wanted to say that I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing to your blog and I hope you write again soon!‘ That was so encouraging. I was just over the moon with great excitement.

A week later, I received another very encouraging comment on the same post. It’s from http://www.tatianahairextensions.co.uk. The comment was, ‘what a great web site, really, one of the best ive seen in a while. keep it up the web really needs more sites like this and so does London.

Both the 2 awesome comments gave me tremendous encouragement and motivation to keep writing and keep posting. I felt so thrilled that there are people outside who love what I wrote on my blog. Content is really King.

Then 2+ months after I started blogging, Mari from http://www.CreateWriteNow.com wrote:

Mary,
Thank you for your fantastic blog. May I use ‘Top 11 Reasons Why Blogging is Beneficial for Everyone’ as a guest post on my blog? I’ll give you credit for sure and I’ll run a picture of you (or that delicious Avocado sandwich :+) Please let me know.
Thank you.

I was so thrilled and felt so honoured to be invited to be a guest blogger. And to know that Mari actually suffered from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) exacerbation which kidnapped her body’s right side and that she had to teach herself how to write with her left hand really touched me and inspired me. I felt even more honoured to be her guest blogger. She published my article, Top 11 Reasons Why Blogging Is Beneficial To Everyone, on her blog on 29th August 2009.

More and more people are finding out about my blog and giving very encouraging comments. I really appreciate all the comments. Comments and encouragement acts as fuel to my passion in blogging.

I have learned : Contents is King. It is the contents that attract readers. Good, value contents make a good blog.
