Fabulous crunchy sesame candy bars

Fabulous crunchy sesame candy bars

It’s time for a good snack. Crunchy Sesame Candy Bars is the answer. It’s so addictive and full of wholesome goodness. It’s really nice on it’s own or with a cup of tea. It’s great for any occasion. This is a popular Chinese snack. When I made it yesterday to share with a few friends, a friend asked whether there’s anymore. That thrills me to know this is a great snack. My family’s favourite too. The ingredients are simple and cheap. Making it is easy. Here’s my recipe to share. The amount here is enough to make a big tray.

2C sesame seeds (roasted)
1C castor sugar
3T butter

Roast the sesame seeds in a wide based frying pan on medium fire. Keep stirring to make sure they brown evenly to a light golden colour. It took me about 10 minutes. Remove it into a bowl. Put the butter and sugar into the pan. Keep stirring until the sugar is completely melted, without any lumps left and light caramel in colour. Add in the roasted sesame seeds and stir well. Pour it out onto a lamington (shallow) tin, and press it out with the back of a spoon. Work fast before the candy hardens. Then use a knife to cut into the number of pieces you want. When it is cold, you can easily break them off and enjoy with your favourite tea or just on its own.

@Divina - Thanks for sharing. Sesame seeds and sesame oil are good for health, so I consider this a healthier snack. Give a go. I’m sure you will like it. It’s very addictive.

This is something that I have never eaten. My motto is normally that if something is sweet I will eat it. I am going to have to give this a try. Thanks.
