Something different for the weekend. My daughter cooked a very nice Western meal….her first attempt. We had beef steak with a very nice brandy sauce to go with it. This was then followed by a beautiful dessert of lemon cake with ice-cream and raspberry coulis (watery jam). The dessert was particularly good. The colour and presentation were eye-catching, the lemon cake had an awesome tangy taste, the vanilla ice-cream was really good and the raspberry coulis tasted very fine and smooth. The combination of taste was excellent.
The beef steak tasted so good, nicely seasoned and just cooked. It was juicy and tender. The brandy sauce gave such a punch to every bite of it. The roasted potatoes were equally good, crunchy on the outside & soft on the inside. The seasoning was very flavourful. The herb salad brought colour to the dish. The salad dressing, specially made, went very well with it.
All in all, I would say the whole meal was of a very high standard and I’m very proud of my daughter. It has given her tremendous encouragement to try out more. She is very creative and I know this is just the beginning of her adventure in cooking.
In life, a lot of things are caught and not taught, especially when comes to parenting. So, keep doing, keep showing good things and our children will keep catching on.

Making coulis is actually very easy though it takes some time to make it. I shared in my earlier post on how to make strawberry coulis. You can make raspberry coulis in a similar way. Check out the way to do it here.
Thought of the day……
‘It takes someone with a vision of the possibilities to attain new levels of experience; someone with the courage to live his dreams.’
